Wow what a great weekend with the Georgina Golden Hawks Peewee BB in Detroit at the Motown Cup.
This is the first time Scarlett been on a team that has won a tournament, and what an experience it was.
The final game was against the Ancaster Avalance, and the game was matched skate for skate, shot for shot. No score in the regulation game, so they had a five minute over time period which was a nail biter for all of those in the stands.
Our girls had so many chances to score but just couldn't get one in. After five minutes it was still tied 0-0. Next came the shoot out, the rink went silent as the girls skated in.
Jenna Campbell scored first for our team giving us a 1-0 score. Sean Morris was so excited he grabbed Jenna in a big bear hug and swong her around the bench.
The Avalanche tied it up with their next shot.
Scarlett was up next, she skated in and faked right which caused the goalie to go right and she then shot left and scored. The look on her face was priceless, she had scored and made a great shot. Sean grabbed her as she entered the bench and gave her a huge hug.
It was a nerve wracking minute while the Avalanche again tried to tie it up but they were unsuccessful.
After a few seconds the girls realized they had won the game and the rink exploded in cheers and tears.
The girls raced out onto the rink, throwing off their gloves and helmets. Each was girl was introduced and given their golden medal and then the coveted Motown Cup.
