Kaleb's Kindgarten Graduation .....

Each child had to write why they loved Miss Wells for a scrap book, ready this just about made me fall over ....... exactly what happens in the class room. LOL !!!!

Grade One Zoo trip 2008

What a great day we had the zoo. The weather was sunny and warm. Sarah and I kept our groups together, so it was Elizabeth, Matthew, Scarlett, Aiden, Ryan and Kylie.

Being a school trip, we only had about 3 hours at the zoo, so we made the best of it. We spent most of our time down in the African section.

About half an hour before we were due to return to the bus, the thunderstorms they had been calling for blew in.

I haven't experienced many storms like this one in my life. The wind, rain were amazing.

We were just leaving the Giraffes, when I noticed that the clouds were swirling so I tried to get some pictures of it. A couple minutes later I noticed a funnel cloud in the sky, not a sight you want to see in the open zoo.

We all hung out near the zoo mobile shelter, and waited out the first round of rain, next it was time to run to the bus, luckily we managed to get to the bus before the worst of it hit.

Some of the kids were crying and scared with the amount of thunder and lighting, and they were all soaked right through.

Luckily the funnel clouds never touched down, but quite a few were spotted in the Toronto Area.

I gave Scarlett some gravel before we left the house that morning, and as you can see it worked. 20 minutes into the bus ride, she managed to fall asleep despite the 60 other kids on the bus.





Scarlett saw somewhere that you can use an umbrella to stay cool on a sunny day.

Brownie Camp 2008 ...

Wow , what a weekend. How do I possible sum it up so you get the general idea.



1. Take 10 brownies, 4 leaders to Eaglewood Resort



2. Next add in mosquito's (thousands of them, no make that millions of them )



3. Put your tent up near the smallest area of swamp water you have. (so make that billions of mosquito's)



4. Make sure there is no running water, anywhere near the site.


5. Add in a little bit of heat, 100deg with 100% humidity works well.


6. Make sure most of your activities take place in the direct sun (actually we were lucky the pathfinders had tents, and most activities were in some shade) but still the sun was a killer.



Take all of this mix it together and you've got Brownie Camp 2008.



It really was a great weekend, lots of fun for everyone.



The leaders are just a tad bit tired, but what do you expect when you get less than 3 hours sleep in a 48 hour period. This was the girls sleeping are, and the kitchen area in the front.
The leaders tent, I have to get one of these it was huge, enough room for 4 queens mattresses and still enough room to walk around.

All of the girls took turns with the chores, wash rinse disinfect.

Quiet time was spent coloring, reading or taking a short nap.

This weekend was hosted by the pathfinders, 48 guiders in attendance.
