Zoo to You ......

Instead of having a party we decided to do something in Kaleb's classroom, so we brought zoo to you in for a visit.

It was so much fun, the kids absolutely loved it.

It was both Kaleb and Ty's birthday, so they got to stand on the chairs and have happy birthday sang to them by all of their classmates.

What a great idea this was.

We had Felix come to visit this week ....

We got to be part of something really fun this week. Our friend Tyler sent a little bunny to Scarlett, the premise being that Felix was lost at the airport and before he heads home to see Tyler he wants to see the world.

Scarlett was very excited to do this, so we took Felix with us everywhere we went.

It so happened that we were going downtown Toronto to the Rogers Centre, to see Disney on Ice, so we managed to get a picture of Felix with the CN Tower.

It was also Easter Weekend, so Felix came with us to the cottage. He got to go snowshoeing with Scarlett, and was invloved in building a quincy with Uncle Derek.

We are very interested in watching Felix's travels over the next few months.

Kaleb turns five .....

Wow, how did this happen. My baby is 5 years old today. I asked him if he wouldn't mind staying four forever, but he said his body can't stop growing. He will however, still give me hugs and kisses now that he's five.

He has now grown from a little boy , into a big boy. He is so much more independent in the last few months. He gets dressed in the morning, without any help or prodding by me (although sometimes quarters work as bribery.)

Kindergarten was a rough start for him this year, he had a hard time transitioning from daycare to school. But he seems to have settled into a routine now, and Ms Wells now says he is a joy to have in the classroom.

He loves school, he gets upset on Monday and Wednesday when its a daycare day. Ontario is changing to all day everyday Kindergarten in 2010, and I can't help but think how much good this would have done Kaleb. He is ready to go to school everyday, and would get so much out of it.

I fear what will happen when the school year ends, he likes school so much more than daycare, I have a feeling that he will not transition well back to daycare only.
(Update -after school ended, and he is having a tough time. He wants Ms Wells , he is counting down the days till school starts again. He does not like daycare at all, he has been crying every night, why can't I go to school. I have struggled with this but I know that there is nothing wrong with they daycare, they go on a lot of trips and its a great place but for him its just not school. He wants the bus ride, the other friends. Another problem is that most of the kids in his daycare class were s/k's and have moved to the camp for the summer, so not only did he lose his school friends, he lost most of his daycare friends.)

Kaleb is such a joy to have around, he truly is a mamma's boy and I am happy for that. Theres are so many times I just look at him and say "Kaleb, have I told you how adorable you are today.
Its hard to put into words, but its the way he looks at you, and you can tell you are the centre of his world. He is only listening and looking at you.

Kaleb's best friend is Scarlett, they continue to do everything together. Kaleb's favorite thing right now is playing Lego Star Wars on the Xbox 360, the funny thing is that he just sits and watches as Scarlett plays the game, when I ask her to give him a turn he says no he just wants to watch.

We don't really have any boys on the street, so Kaleb mostly plays with Scarlett and Katherine. Its sad but I don't know who his friends at school are, he dosen't talk about school. I am lucky if I get an answer at all when I ask about school. Everyday I ask if he had a good day, "yes" what did you do "nothing", okay did you go outside to the playground "No", did you have gym class "No". He for some reason has decided not to tell us about school and we get nothing from him.

Unless we ask about Ms Wells, he is more than happy to tell us what she was wearing, what color her lips are, what fun things she did that day.

Of course he is also into transformers, lego, hot wheels. For his birthday we got him a hot wheels holder that fits over this closet door. He was excited to fill it up, about an hour later I went up to find that he only had about 12 cars in it and another pile on the floor. So of course I asked why they weren't in the holder, "Mom, they're not hot wheels, they're not real". LOL.

Kaleb is a very loving boy, he gives lots of hugs and kisses, like his sister we start everyday off with a snuggle buggle in my bed. He will walk by my and have to give me a kiss before he continues on. He still loves to sit on my lap, no matter where we are. I of course love this, as Scarlett is starting to move away from this.
