A parents worse nightmare, the game your child is in goal .....

It was Kaleb's turn in goal this weekend, and while he has the drive and passion of a goalie, his skills are slightly lacking. He made a few great saves, but in the in the end they lost 9-4.

Starting Centre Forward , Scarlett Evans ......

Scarlett has switched to boys hockey this year. We were very worried that she might not be good enough to compete as the boys are a lot faster and more skilled than the girls.

She started this weekend as centre forward and she proved that girls can do anything boys can do. She got her first goal of the year, and as her dad puts it "it was a well earned" goal.

I was ahhhh looking the other way, talking to a friend and missed it but I will take both Scarlett and Martins word for it that it was an awesome goal.

Scarlett is number 87 in this picture.

What could be better than a pile of dirt ...

Uncle Kevin took the kids up to the sand pit this weekend, and found this instead. A developer is going to build on our beloved sand pit, and had created a great place for the kids to play.

As a child my brothers and I would toboggan, snowmobile and climb the hills. Now twenty-five years later our kids are doing the same things.

Scarlett completed her first 5km walk/run ....

this past weekend. The run was called "Its cool to be me 5km" and was run through Girls on the Run.

www.girlsontherun.ca

Scarlett has been attending a 10 week program twice a week, where they not only learn to run/walk 5km but also learn about self-respect, empowerment, healthy choices and community service.

Each Tues/Thurs she met will her coaches for 1 hour and 15minutes where they discussed many different topics including ...

body image
healthy eating choices
drugs / alcohol
inner beauty / vs inner beauty
peer pressure
perseverance

and many more topics. She really enjoyed the program, and is looking forward to signing up again next year.

The race included approximately 4000 girls who had completed the program this year in the GTA.
