2009 Oakville Hornets Tournament .....

What a fun yet exhausting weekend. Scarlett's team was in Oakville for a three day tournament.

Friday started off with a game against the Oakville Pink Panthers which the girls won 2-0. Friday afternoon was a game against the Oakville Orange Pumpkins which again the girls won with a score of 3-1.

We them headed back to the hotel for a swim and a night of crazy girls running around the hotel.

I remember going on vacation with my parents and staying at a hotel with a hockey tournament and thinking what kind of parents do these kids have. Now I'm one of them. The girls spent most of the night going from one room to the next, checking to see who had better snacks.

Saturday was a game against the Burlington Red Hot Chilies which the girls again won 4-2. This meant they made it into the semi-finals Saturday morning.

Scarlett wanted to go out that night for a girls night so off we went to Baton Rouge for some ribs. We ordered dinner and while we waited she snuggled up to me and promptly fell asleep.

I ended up getting dinner to go and we headed back to the hotel. Needless to say there was no running around the hotel that night, instead Scarlett was asleep by 8:30.

Saturday we had some very nervous girls as they dressed for the game. It was a tough game and a very hard fight but the girls again triumphed 2-1 against the Burlington Flyers and were now set for the final gold medal game.

Sunday afternoon the girls played the St. Catharines Inferno for the Gold Medal game. It was a very hard game, the girls were amazing. The game was played on an Olympic rink and it always amazes me how much energy all of the girls have in order to be able to do that much skating.

The final score was 5-2 for St. Catharines.
We are so proud of our girls to have made it into the final round , here's a picture of the girls with their silver medals.

Kaleb's Team Picture .....

Kaleb was so excited to see his team picture this week, little did he know that he wasn't in the picture.  I was away the weekend of the pictures, and it was left up to daddy to take him.  Instead they decided to go hunting up at the hunt camp, typical boys hunting and fishing comes first.

So far Kaleb hasn't played any games, they do drills for the majority of the year.  Sometime in March they will begin to play mini games.

Kaleb can't wait to actually play a game, I think he is a bit jealous of Scarlett's games every weekend.

Georgina Girls Novice Team take Silver ........

Wow, what a weekend.  Scarlett's first tournament was this weekend, and it was a lot of fun.

Martin thinks I'm turning into one of those mothers, you know the type that takes the game really really seriously.  But I'm sure I'm just a typical mother.

Aren't you supposed to be stressed, and yelling at the referee's.  This is very important to me, ahhh I mean the girls.

Of course I'm just kidding, I am all about the girls having fun.  Who cares if they win, as long as Scarlett's gets off the ice having had fun.

It was easy to get pulled into the excitement, and sure there were times where you wondered if the referee had been drinking, or maybe needed glasses but for the most part it was just a lot of fun to watch.

Getting to see the girls beaming with joy as they got their medals was a great thing to see.

At this age they are still having fun, Scarlett got her medal and thought they had won the whole tournament.  She had no idea that silver isn't as good as gold, to her it was the fact that she had a medal hanging around her neck.

The girls next tournament is over the Christmas Holidays in Whitby, and I for one can't wait.

Here she is patiently waiting her turn to go on, of course her stick should not be over the boards while the game is on.  What you can't see is me waving at her trying to get her to put the stick away.

The Silver Medal Winners, Scarlett is back row, left corner.

Good girl defending the net, and notice she is not in the goalie crease, its taken some time but she's finally got the hang of it.
Just missed her blocking a shot here, but you can see she's ready to pounce.
